This 5 minute exercise will replace your entire workout

Meet the Kettlebell. This one simple piece of equipment can become your entire home gym for simple, effective and quick workouts.

Kettlebell

As a former personal and group trainer and a mom to three very busy boys, I understand how difficult it is to fit in the time to go to the gym and get in a workout.

My go-to piece of equipment for fast, effective workouts has always been the kettlebell, especially when working out at home and with little time or desire for the gym.

The fastest and most effective workout you can do with a kettlebell is the Kettlebell Swing.

This hinging movement with a weight works out the hips, glutes, hamstrings, lats, abs, pecs, shoulders, and your grip, all in one simple, safe movement and burns a ton of calories at the same time!

Not yet convinced? Here are more reasons to love this exercise:

  1. Easy to learn with the proper guidance
  2. Incredibly effective
  3. Strength and conditioning rolled into one.
  4. You only need one piece of equipment
  5. Easy to find no matter where you live.
  6. Add more simple exercises for a build longer, whole body workout.
  7. Only takes a few minutes to complete the entire workout.
  8. Can be performed by people of all ages and fitness levels.
  9. So compact you can store the equipment anywhere.

I’ve prescribed this single movement alone to busy people for years, seeing incredible results in fat loss and muscle gain in a short period of time. A quick kettlebell swing workout coupled with healthy nutritional choices has allowed busy men and women to accomplish their goals in no time.

Before starting this type of movement, make sure you talk to a professional or watch some tutorials to make sure you learn the proper form for this movement. Always protect your spine and aim for perfect alignment every swing!

Look into different workouts for yourself, but in my personal experience and as a trainer, I start with completing 100 swings with a 35 lb kettlebell for time. Stop and rest as needed but try and complete as quickly as you safely can.

To make your one kettlebell weight last longer, when you find this weight too light or easy, try a one arm kettlebell swing! And if you’re ready for more, check out other simple, effective exercises such as turkish get ups, kettlebell snatch and goblet squats.
